"Dear Senga,
The Whistler Garden Group traveled to Pemberton yesterday to enjoy afternoon tea at our “Farm” and to enjoy the reality that your landscape plan has become. It has been about four years since I asked for a plan to help me make the place something like Stanley Park and the result is such a pleasure --- and I’m only half-way done! Yesterday’s tea party was in a perfect setting as was a wedding last year and our private strolls in late afternoons. I just had to write to thank you.
You will recall that it was in the Spring of 2001 that I asked you to help me plan the landscaping on our farm for my retirement years. The rooms you created on paper are turning out year after year to be places of surprise and relaxation as the plantings begin to mature.
I’m fortunate to have several acres to landscape and as each year’s planting occurs the area naturally takes on a name. So, there are now “The Japanese Garden”, “The Grotto”, “The Meadow”, and so forth. Each is planted with the trees, shrubs and perennials you recommended and the result is a painting that changes by the time of day, the weather and the seasons. Your eye for turning a “bushscape” into an artistic piece is remarkable. Thank you for the good advice.
It is good for me that you have remained available and involved in my work and your ongoing interest has been a pleasure. I’ll be continuing with the Rugosa plantings this year and looking forward to all the compliments I receive as a result of your good planning.
