May 29/10 Year in Sustainable Garden: Travel Blog - Visiting a Sustainable Garden in New Zealand
A Vist to a Sustainable Garden in New Zealand
And New Zealanders loooove their gardens! The weather is much milder than in Canada so one finds a wide range of temperate and sub-tropical plants growing in that climate.
Our cousins- native New Zealanders took us to Hamilton Botanical Gardens located on the North Island and what a feast for the eyes that was! Amid the acres of rose beds and ponds was an area devoted solely to historical garden styles of various cultures - from Japanese to Indian gardens. A walled central plaza spurred off into doorways which led to these individual rooms.
One garden was devoted to a modern day garden style which rides the wave of what we call sustainable landscape design. More principal based than 'style' it was David's idea to pick up the camera, explore and record what we learned from our tour and post it on Youtube for everyone to see as well!
I hope you enjoy your trip to a 'Sustainable Gardend Down Under' - New Zealander style!
