The Site
The Adventure Centre was developed to act as a hub to effectively market all of Squamish.
The Challenge
Develop a landscape that emulates the rugged outdoor environment that is representative of the Squamish motto as 'Canada's Outdoor Capital'. Respond to the contemporary architecture and provide the 'stage set' for the building setting. Accommodate and move large groups (bus loads) visiting the facility.
The Design
Minimalist landscape planting featuring Squamish native plants - both terrestrial and aquatic. Multi purpose amphitheater entry with sit steps and basalt columns that provide informal seating. Waterfall which cascades from atop the building and feeds pond which forms the base of the building.
