The Site

The site is approximately 35 acres and  Khalanie Campground opposite the Shannon Falls Provincial Park in Squamish.  The proposal includes a five star hotel and villas (273 units).

The Challenge

Shannon Fall - BottomDevelop a five star facility and retreat within a rocky and challenging sloping site. Minimize the areas of disturbance and tree removal. Reuse roads and areas of disturbance as established by existing campground development & to maximize the panoramic views of Howe Sound through integrated site planning.

The Design

  • Native planting palette and revegetation all disturbed areas
  • Integration of trail network through site and public park amenities
  • Green roof on hotel
  • Rain gardens, permeable surfaces and storm water initiatives through landscape treatments

Sustainable Design

  • Water supply and sewage treatment to be handled within the development
  • Creation of wildlife corridors and habitat spaces
  • Reuse of existing road networks and campsite pods for Villa development
  • Rain water detention and distribution with green roofs on hotel, rain gardens, permeable surfaces
